EL TOSTÓN LIGHTHOUSE - TRADITIONAL FISHING MUSEUM

museo de la pesca tradicional

This red and white lighthouse, with its three towers built in different periods to guide
the seamen that sail the waters of the north of Fuerteventura and the straight that
separates the neighbouring island Lanzarote, is an emblem of the sea and the marine
world.

The natural surroundings where it is located captivates all the visitors, who have
admired and photographed it turning it into a symbol of Fuerteventura and its
nautical character.

Today it contains the Traditional Fishing Museum, exponent of the seamen’s wisdom
that has been transmitting from generation to generation, and activity
closely linked to the life of the inhabitants of El Cotillo, the nearest village.
A place to learn about the secrets of the sustainable fishing performed by the
Majoreros for centuries, which also includes spaces reserved for temporary
exhibitions and art shows.
