The one which lights up the treasures of an extraordinary natural park

PUNTA DE JANDÍA LIGHTHOUSE - JANDÍA NATURAL PARK CENTRE OF INTERPRETATION

At the southernmost end of Fuerteventura, in the most deserted and arid area of the island, we find the Punta de Jandía lighthouse, one of the oldest in the Canaries, which started operating in 1864, and is today a centre of interpretation of the Natural Park of Jandía.

This Natural Park, the biggest one on Fuerteventura, extends from here up to the isthmus of La Pared, which separates the peninsula of Jandía from the rest of the island. Endless plant and animal species particular to arid areas, endemic species, breath-taking landscapes, archaeological heritage, mountains, desert volcanoes and valleys, sand dunes, hidden paradise beaches, etc. make this wild place one of the great wonders of Fuerteventura, the Canaries and the world.
The lighthouse, whose function was mainly to guide the ships crossing from Europe to West Africa, today is the centre of knowledge of this impressive Natural Park, and home to temporary exhibits of contemporary culture and art.
